General Thoracic and Vascular Surgery includes surgeries that involve
the abdominal organs, esophagus, lungs and circulation. Other associated
procedures, including lesion removal, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy and
gastroscopy, are also performed. Surgeons are often involved with
diagnostic procedures such as breast biopsies or evaluations following
an abnormal mammogram. The Alexandria Clinic, P.A. uses the most

Shawn M. Lanman D.O., F.A.C.O.S
Dr. Lanman grew up in Fremont, NE. He received his B.S. degree in biology and ecology from Wichita, KS. Dr. Lanman then attended the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, OK, graduating in 1994. He served a one-year rotating internship at Riverside Hospital in Wichita, KS and completed his general surgery residency through Michigan State University in Garden City, MI. Dr. Lanman performs general, endoscopic, laparoscopic, thoracic and vascular surgery. He completed board certification in general surgery in 2001, and board recertification in 2011. In the fall of 2011, Dr. Lanman was awarded the title Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons by his peers in the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.
Dr. Shawn Lanman joined Alexandria Clinic, P.A. in June 2000. He is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Lanman lives in Alexandria with his family.

Gary L. Paulson M.D.,
F.A.C.S.
Dr. Gary Paulson was born in Detroit Lakes, MN. He completed his high
school education in Glenwood, MN and received his B.A. degree at the
University of Minnesota-Morris in 1978. Dr. Paulson continued his
education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and the University of
Minnesota-Minneapolis, where he received his M.D. degree in 1982. He
spent six years of residency in general surgery at the Hennepin County
Medical Center. Dr. Paulson has extensive experience with breast,
lung and colon cancer diagnosis, surgery and follow up.
Dr. Paulson joined Alexandria Clinic, P.A. in 1988. He is a member of
the Minnesota Medical Association. He and his wife, Dr. Susan Paulson,
reside in Alexandria.
