The
Prothrombin Time Clinic is a quick and easy way to monitor Coumadin therapy (a
blood-thinning medication) using the finger-stick technique. This
allows the patient to avoid having blood drawn from their arm.
This finger-stick tests the ratio of medicine to their blood.
Patients with a variety of diagnoses including, history of heart
disease, stroke, deep vein thrombosis and artificial valve replacement
require Coumadin to minimize the likelihood of blood clots.
