It's fun to go for a bike ride with your family or hop on the four wheeler for a quick ride. But, did you know that these fun and innocent past times should include wearing a helmet?

Hi, this is Dr. Bruce Wymore from the Alexandria Clinic. I can't stress enough the importance of helmet safety, no matter what your age. Helmets should be worn especially during activities that involve speed. These activities impose risks of head injury that could cause death or permanent injury. Wearing a helmet is the single most effective means of preventing such injuries.

You should wear a helmet when you ride a bicycle, a motorcycle or an ATV. Other popular recreational activities where a helmet should be worn would be snowmobiling, rollerblading and skateboarding. Be sure to use the appropriate helmet for the activity.

Have fun, but play safe. Please, wear a helmet.
