Chances are your life has been affected by a heart attack. Whether it’s
a family member, a friend, or yourself, heart attacks can take the lives
of those we love. Hi, this is Dr. Paul Kietzmann, family practitioner at
the Alexandria Clinic. Heart attacks are caused by poor blood flow to
the heart muscle due to a blockage of the blood vessels supplying the
heart. This leads to what we call coronary heart disease. Heart disease
is the leading cause of death for adults in the United States,
accounting for 1/3 of all deaths.
The good thing is that you can take action now to lower your risk for
heart disease. Lowering your bad cholesterol, or LDL, is one way of
doing this. At the Alexandria Clinic, we strive to keep you healthy and
feeling good. We can work with you to monitor your cholesterol levels,
and make appropriate recommendations for the best ways to lower your
cholesterol, and thereby help lower your risk of heart disease.
